For some reason, can't get any attachments in Windows Live Mail. It just started and have checked Security and even unchecked (do not allow attachments to be saved) and restarted Mail and it still won't work.

I even tried saving the attachments, but that wouldn't even work.

Anybody know how to correct this? Have run virus scans and ran Malwarebytes too, but nothing found.

What virus scanner are you using? Some virus and anti-malware tools can prevent the attachment of files to any mail client. Also what kind of errors are you receiving?

Using AVG 2012 anti-virus and no errors, just won't open it up, even if I right-click it and click on "open".

Try disabling AVG and see if it works.

I said screw it, nuked and burned the HD and reinstalled everything. Thank goodness for backing up. Did forget the Windows Live Mail address book though damn it!

Getting attachments again. Can't imagine getting a bug, have AVG, Spyware Blaster, Malwarebytes and Zone-alarm. Any other things I should have to keep from getting into trouble in the future?

AVG was probably the culprit because of the Email Scanning option the driver that does that was probably corrupted / not loading.

Id only recommend Malwarebytes and Super Anti-spyware and leave those other programs out. Also I would recommend either Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials.
