On my wifes computer the lan driver disappeared. It is XP on a Gateway. The recovery disk has the driver but I cannot get it to download using the add new programs. It goes through as though it is downloading but is not there when I look under harware then drivers. I also have the driver on the external hard drive but also cannot figure out how to reload on computer.

Sorry have not had chance to get on line lately. It is a 552GE. I do not see this on the Gateway site either but that is what it says on the computer. Does it matter what model to load the Driver?

Yes, it does matter what model it is for the driver. Drivers differ according to hardware.

Remembered this morning wife bought at one of the shopping channels that is why does not show up on Gateway site. I have the driver on the recovery disk but do not know how to put back on computer without doing a recovery and losing all I have there. I do not want to have to back up the whole thing. There has to be a way to just retieve the driver from the disk. I just do not know how. I even downloaded the driver file to a CD but could not figure how to load on other computer.

As she has no Lan driver I am doing all this on my other computer to try and figure it out.

I have the driver on the recovery disk and downloaded it on another CD. Cannot figure out how to reinstall the driver from the disk. I am sure it is not hard if you know the trick, but I do not.

Run the Autorun.exe file and it should auto install it.

The link that Dan provided in #7 are the ones you want.
I didnt download them to check but it appears that they are in self extracting zip format.

Are these the drivers that you downloaded?
In the beginning there was the command line.

Thanks Bleepin Madman. Used the driver off the recovery disk and it installed great. Wife will be real happy tomorrow to not have to use old laptop that kept dumping files to make room.
