Slow Computer + Filling C drive = ???

Not 100% sure if this is being posted in the correct area but I hope it is...

My Computer:
Windows 7 Ultimate
Intel i7 Quad Core CPU (I don't remember the exact speed of it)
12 GIGs RAM
2 hard drives, C drive is 138 gig. D drive is 465GIG

My problem is this...
The computer has been running slower and slower for the last week or two. Two days ago I got message from the system tray saying my C drive was nearly full (maybe 1 gig left or whatever). I thought this was odd because I install all programs and download everything to my D drive but did not worry about it. I went and deleted a couple things I must have accidently had on there (movies or music or whatever). I then had like 6 or 7 gigs free and went about my merry little way.

I woke up this morning to the same message but it said I have 0MB free on my C drive...AHHH.

I do a bit of googling and someone suggests getting a program called "TreeSize" which will tell me where all my hard disc space is being used and all that. I do and I find 24GB taken up by pagefile.sys (about 15GB) and Hiberfil.sys (about 9GB). Seems odd to me that they would be that big but what do I know.


Looking through the rest of it I see 85GB used in my USERS folder. Vast majority of that is in C:\USERS\MyUsername\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\
Within that 30+GB are in a folder called "D4OSMNGA" and 15GB are in a folder called "5MR8N3MZ" and then some other similarly odd named folders have the rest.

SOOOOO...WTF? I am running Malwarebytes anti-malware and its been going for 5 hours with ZERO infected objects thus far.

WHAT DO I DO!?!? Is this some virus or malware that I have or do I simply delete the Content.IE5 folder (if so, how?) or what do you suggest!?

Sorry this is so long, I wanted to be sure to provide as much information as I can.

Please follow the instructions in ==>This Guide<== starting at step 6. If you cannot complete a step, skip it and continue.

Once the proper logs are created, then post them in a reply to this topic by using the Add Reply button.

If you can produce at least some of the logs, then please create the post and explain what happens when you try to create the log(s) that you couldn't get. If you cannot produce any of the logs, then still post the reply and explain that you followed the Prep. Guide, were unable to create the logs, and describe what happens when you try to create the logs.

Please note that I am not a member of the Malware Removal Team and will not be assisting you in removing the infection. I'm simply helping you to post the information they need in order to assist you.

Posted Image If you still need help, I would like you to post a Reply to this topic (click the "Add Reply" button in the lower right hand of this page). In that reply, please include the following information:

  • If you have not done so already, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.
  • A new DDS and GMER log. For your convenience, you will find the instructions for generating these logs repeated at the bottom of this post.
    • Please do this even if you have previously posted logs for us.
    • If you were unable to produce the logs originally please try once more.
    • If you are unable to create a log please provide detailed information about your installed Windows Operating System including the Version, Edition and if it is a 32bit or a 64bit system.
    • If you are unsure about any of these characteristics just post what you can and we will guide you.
  • Please tell us if you have your original Windows CD/DVD available.
  • Upon completing the above steps and posting a reply, another staff member will review your topic and do their best to resolve your issues.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan again:

  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links if you no longer have it available. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explanation about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

We also need a new log from the GMER anti-rootkit Scanner.

Please note that if you are running a 64-bit version of Windows you will not be able to run GMER and you may skip this step.

Please first disable any CD emulation programs using the steps found in this topic:

Then create another GMER log and post it as an attachment to the reply where you post your new DDS log. Instructions on how to properly create a GMER log can be found here:
