Hi, if you are reading this, thanks in advance.

Recently, I was on my laptop (windows 7), on IE, when suddenly a new program appeared on the desktop. Assuming it was a virus, I deleted it, but then it started giving all those popup messages saying your computer is infected, so on and so forth. The program has a small shield in the icon tray on the bottom of the screen, colored similarly to many windows applications. When it is clicked on, it does the usual rogue thing of saying your computer is going to imminently explode unless you buy their stuff, and apparently every single file on your computer has magically become infected. While trying to fix this, I have discovered that any programs that are opened automatically close within about half a second, even task manager. Also, hitting F8 while rebooting doesn't work. Control panel will open, however this doesnt seem to help much due to everything closing. I'm really stuck, as normally I can get rid of programs like this.

Thanks again in advance,

Peter

Thanks Orange,

Luckily, I managed to remove the virus before you responded by doing some searching around on the internet. For anyone else who might have this problem, you have to open task manager as fast as possible as soon as the comuter starts up, and stop a process with a bunch of numbers in its name. This should allow programs to function. Next, run MalewareBytes, rkill, and SUPERantispyware to finish removing everything. Thanks again for the help!
