In our office we have multiple printers and computers with various levels of windows i.e. xp and windows 7. We are all networked and share some files and all of the printers. The newest computer that was added will not print on the network. I can see the printer on the network but it will not print to the printer. The printer is an HP8500. It is hard wired to one PC not the windows 7 PC. We also have a brother printer that you can see but can not print to with the Windows 7 PC. Everyone else that does not use windows 7 can see and can print to the either printer. Anyone else have this problem and how did you solve it? Hope I gave enough info.

Just an off the wall question, have you tried installing the drivers for the printer on the Windows 7 computers?

I had the same issue with a printer that worked fine on Windows XP computers, but not on windows 7 ones, the drivers that worked for older printers are not always included with Windows 7's native drivers.

Bruce.

how exactly do you want to connect to this printer ?

1. you can connect directly with a USB cord, install drivers first.

2. connect over the network , if you have an ip, (install drivers first, ping IP to see if its up and running).

3. connect this printer to a computer using step 1 or 2, then "sharing" the printer over the network with Windows or the OS that this computer is running.

How do you want to connect to this printer ???

Also what is the exact name of this HP printer ? is this the office jet pro ?
