I keep getting redirected. You guys did an awesome job of fixing my father in laws computer last year... now it is my turn to get it...

When I use google search, when I click on a legitimate link I get redirected to r.looksmart.com or freelocal 411 or afew other sites. if I click "back" and click the link again I go to the actual site that I want. very annoying...

I am running a quad core with Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and 4 gb of RAM. I use Firefox 6.0 as a browser (I tended to notice these issues after upgrading to 6.0 a week or so ago.) Malware bytes is updated and finds nothing. latest version of AVG free has not detected anything, and I have all the updates for Win 7. (both Win 7 and AVG free update automatically) nothing in the virus scans or malware scans.

Thanks!

Anson

Hello and welcome back.

Are you on a router? Are other machines on it,if so are they redirecting?

Do you use Firefox?

Please follow our Removal Guide here How to remove Google Redirects. You will move to the Automated Removal Instructions

If it finds something make sure Cure is selected
Next click Continue then Reboot now
A log file should be created on your C: drive named "TDSSKiller.txt" please copy and paste the contents in your next reply.

Rerun MBAM (MalwareBytes) like this:

Open MBAM in normal mode and click Update tab, select Check for Updates,when done
click Scanner tab,select Quick scan and scan (normal mode).
After scan click Remove Selected, Post new scan log and Reboot into normal mode.

Please ask any needed questions,post logs and Let us know how the PC is running now.

Hello Boopme,

I do use firefox, it is version 6.0. I do not use Internet Explorer except to update the computer if I do a manual windows update (have not done that in well over a year, as it autoupdates)

I have an AT&T router. only one other computer on it via wireless, and that is my wife's laptop. it has not exhibited any abnormal behavior.

I saw this on another page and ran it: GooredFix.exe.
it found a profile in Firefox and removed it. see log below:

GooredFix by jpshortstuff (03.07.10.1)
Log created at 23:14 on 29/08/2011 (Dvader)
Firefox version 6.0 (en-US)

========== GooredScan ==========

Deleting "C:\Users\Dvader\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\mkgr5y7r.default\extensions\{5090570f-8cf5-44e6-9b9a-e83a8c15f15f}" -> Success!

I have not had any redirects lately, but I have not done much surfing either. After running the above, I have ran the TDSS Killer and Gmer as mentioned in your reply above:

I have downloaded and ran TDSS Killer and GMER. both did not find anything.

updated and ran MBAM. again nothing found.

Again, thanks for your help!

Anson
