I have had a problem now for a while with my Vista laptop opening Adobe. I have the same programme on my Win XP computer which works perfect.
Is there any security settings I might be missing?

I use Security Essentials on both computers and PC Tools Firewall on both. I also use Advanced Systemcare on both.

Ive noticed Adobe still updates itself on the Vista laptop, but such as last night, I went on a website to print off an application form on my laptop, but it tried to open up Adobe and failed. I switched the pc on and it worked perfect.

Which version are you using on the laptop?

Also, when you say it failed, what was the error message?

I'm running the latest Reader on my Vista machine (10.1.0) and haven't had any issues but when I last updated Reader (and a whole bunch of other apps) I made sure to uninstall/remove all the previous versions.

Perhaps start by checking that?

I know Im using the latest version because it always updates successfully. There is no error message, its just when I try to open something in Adobe, the page is just blank.
I will uninstall all Adobe and re-install and give it a go.

I have uninstalled Adobe reader and re-installed latest version and so far so good. I restarted the laptop, and tried again, and it still works. Fingers crossed. Thanks for your help Winterland.

Thanks for letting us know you have been successful so far. :thumbup2:

You are welcome.

Glad it worked and, as Animal pointed out, thanks for letting us know, perhaps we can help another Bleeping member without them even having to post.

Just an aside, and as a good housekeeping practice, you may want to check for previous versions of other apps that may cause problems and/or cause some security risks to your machines.

The pesky Java app comes to mind.

Not sure if you're using it or not, but the Secunia PSI app is very helpful in taking a look at all your apps and reporting those in need of updates, End-of-Life apps, etc.

Learned about it from a post by quietman7 and it's great.
