On the 21st of this month my computer desktop/folders/startmenu disappeared. Constant errors about hard drive failures. After running the WD diagnostics with no errors I suspected a virus. CA Security Center found and quarantined : FraudWindowsRecovery, FraudSystemRepair, WebSearch Toolbar. I downloaded and ran malwarebytes which removed 179 Trojan type entries and SuperAntiSpyware which removed 519 threats. I am at the point now where I am still missing contents in my start menu folders, I still cannot launch system restore, I am still getting redirected in Google to sites that were not the intended site. CA scans come up clean now, SuperAntiSpyware scans come up clean, Malwarebytes scans come up clean. I downloaded GMER as per your instructions but it launches with an error "LoadDriver(Path of my local user in documents and settings\temp\uwdyquod.sys)Cannot create a stable subkey under a volitale parent key"
I am at a loss what to do next.

Here is my DDS.txt:

Hi,

Please do the following:

Download ComboFix from one of the following locations:
Link 1
Link 2

VERY IMPORTANT !!! Save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop

* IMPORTANT - Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. If you have difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, refer to this link here
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

  • Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

  • Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.
Notes:
1. Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. Do not "re-run" Combofix. If you have a problem, reply back for further instructions.

I tried to run the combofix and it stops and tells me it cannot run with CA Antivirus Installed. So I uninstalled however I cannot seem to get the CA Personal Firewall portion of this to uninstall. So your program still thinks I have CA Antivirus installed. I ran the tool on the CA website to assist uninstall CA Internet Security Suite but it still does not take all of the program out. I still see CA Personal Firewall in the add/remove programs list but no option to uninstall. It is not running on my computer though as my firewall is now back to showing only the regular windows firewall instead of the CA firewall. Suggestions?

Thanks,
Cheri

Hi

Boot into safe mode with networkingand run Combofix from safe mode, continue on when it complains about CA

To Enter Safemode
  • Go to Start> Shut off your Computer> Restart
  • As the computer starts to boot-up, Tap the F8 KEY repeatedly,
  • this will bring up a menu.
  • Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to scroll up to Safemode with Networking
  • Then press the Enter Key on your Keyboard
  • go into your usual account

It would not run in safe mode. I deleted the CA folder and now it no longer gives me an error about CA Antivirus. It updated to a version dated today then went away and never came back. I keep getting an error when I first launch it that it cannot write to iexplorer.exe in the c:\32788R22FWJFW. When I look at this folder I see your script extracting to it doesn't look like a regular folder. See screen prints.
