Since a couple of weeks, I have a problem with my laptop screen. From time to time, suddenly, everything on the screen disappears and I get a screen with only white and grey lines (see picture attached). When this happens, I can't use the laptop anymore and I have to shutdown by pressing the power button. On some days, I have no problems, on other days, this happens several times.
What can be the reason and how can this be solved?

Kind regards,
Paul

Does this problem occur in warmer climates (or after the machine has been on for a while)? Has the laptop been twisted or dropped? Has there been any maintenence performed (cleaning dust, device driver updates, changes in hardware, etc.) on the machine recently?

Hello,

it happens at different moments : sometimes after severals hours, sometimes shortly after start up, the temperature doesn't seem to have any influence... The laptop has not been twisted nor dropped, and no maintenance was performed recently...

Kind regards,
Paul

Hi,

I have found out that this is a hardware problem (the screen of my Asus Laptop). I have connected an external monitor to my laptop, so that I had video output simultaneously on two screens (the screen of my Asus Laptop + the external monitor). Several times, on the Asus laptop screen everything disappeared and I got a white/grey screen with horizontal grey lines. But on the external monitor, everything continues to be ok.
So I will bring my Asus laptop to the shop and have it repaired.

Kind regards,
Paul
