I'm not one of the "guys" but I'll answer your post to bump it up.

I received the regular Tuesday updates on Aug. 9th pertaining to OS, Net Framework, etc. However, Microsoft Security Essentials updates daily. Could that be what you are referring to?

I concur with Tulsa with the updates pertaining with Windows 7 x64.

Each OS is independently; has its own sets of updates some are being more updated as needed to stay up to date with everyone. Windows Vista/Windows xp is becoming out-dated with windows 7. Not everyone wants to migrate over to the newer OS because its hard for people to adapt; more updates for aging OS(es)

Thanks for the replys. I figured out my microsoft.net framework 4 needed to be installed and updated. I use Vista Ultimate 64 bit and have Office 2003 for Small Business installed as well, hence the framework 4 updates. I looked in my update history and saw the framework 4 updates were failed. So I installed framework 4 and hope that fixes my problem. Alan P. S. it was framework 4 extended.

Yes checking your update history is a good practice especially if offered the same update, thinking you already installed but not realizing the installation failed. I have encountered issues with .Net Framework updates myself.

Good job figuring that out. :thumbup2:

Well, the Microsoft updates slowed but the Microsoft Security Essentials is still showing out of date everyday. I have uninstalled and re-installed and it still continues? Thanks for the thumbs up.
