Dear Friends,

With deep regret, I am writing this post to let you know that SifuMike, a long time friend, member, and Malware Response Team member had passed away on July 5th, 20011. Today was the first time that the anti-malware communities found out this information and it is a complete shock to everyone who knew him.

I first met Mike in 2004/2005 at the forum SecurityForums.com, where I was active before and as I was starting BleepingComputer.com. He has always been a person who was generous with his time and knowledge and did his best to help those who needed it on the forums. Whenever he spotted an issue at BC, or with some of our content, he was always helpful to point out what needed to be corrected or fixed.

Even while he was fighting his illness, he once told me:

"I am not so sick I cant help people with their logs, thank god."

That statement pretty much sums up his outlook on life. Mike was a person who just wanted to help people. Not because he had anything to gain from it, but rather that he just had a passion for computer security and got enjoyment out of helping people solve their security problems.

Mike you will be sorely be missed.

This is indeed sad news.

"......" Amen.

Sad news indeed, he will surely be missed by those who he has helped in the past.
However, I feel a personal loss myself, because he was one of our staff members, who like the rest of us here at BC, has found that life's simple pleasure is helping others unselfishly with his time and knowledge.

He is in my prayers.

Bruce.

Condolences to his family and friends.

Funny, I can always imagine my own death but I seem to block out the possibility that someone I esteem or value on any level...can encounter situations resulting in death.

Restis in pace, Mike.

It is sad. Mike was indeed a devoted malware fighter. I was surprised he was not around lately and I got no PM from him for a while.

My deep condolences to the family and friends. :flowers:
