Hello...I am having problems and need help.
Here are my problems followed by my HiJack This Log.

1.... "%SystemDrive% icon has appeared on my desktop. 2 days ago I found this new file. What is it?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2... Outlook Express is playing up. When I try to send or receive emails, it sticks as if there is a problem with my Server. I have spoken to Telewest who took me through various checks and it is not a Telewest related problem. Their final suggestion was to disable my Norton Internet Security and hey presto I was flying again. BUT.....this problem happens just about all the time so I am forever having to disable my Internet Security in order to send and receive emails. This problem only started happening recently.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. ...Several Internet sites are freezing so I then 'End Programme' which doesn't work so I can't close down. I receive ...
"IE has experienced a problem and needs to close." "The following addon was running when this problem occurred"
File toolbar.dll
Co.name (not verified) IE Toolbar.
Desc IE toolbar

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4....I successfully did an automatic update recently and now seem to be experiencing several problems since then so I am wondering if there is any connection ??
I am now trying to check on the update site again but I cannot gain access.....I keep getting the following.....

"IE has experienced a problem and needs to close"
"The following addon was running when this problem occurred".
File toolbar.dll
Co.name (not verified) IE Toolbar
Desc. IE toolbar

I also get another error message...
"iexplore.exe-Application error.
The instruction at 'Ox7c9105f8' referenced memory at 0X02560010. The memory could not "read".
Click OK to terminate the programme.

However, it freezes and I can't remove it.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5.....The system is exceedingly slow to close down.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6......I can't do a System Restore. have tried but no matter what date I choose, it says it couldn't do a restore at that point and that no changes have been made. I've tried several times over the last couple of days but it still says the same thing.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And so the problems persist despite doing the following......

I keep my Windows Updates checked all the time + Norton Internet Security Live update (2 or 3 times a week) + Spyware Blaster + SpyBot + Ad-Aware etc. and I am 100% clear. I have no virus's .

I have run PConPoint which found several errors and corrected them.

I checked the File System for errors using System File Checker and there were no problems.

However, I have checked for Application Errors and Hangings with Event Viewer and there is a HUGE long list there for both so there is the evidence that something mysterious is going on!!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi

Download WinPFind!
  • Extract WinPFind.zip to your c:\ folder.
  • Reboot your computer into Safe Mode
  • Then open c:\WinPFind and double-click on WinPFind.exe.
  • When the program is open, click on the Start Scan button to start scanning your computer.
  • Be patient as this scan may take a while. When it is done, it will show a log and tell you the scan is completed.
  • Reboot your computer back to normal mode and and post the contents of c:\WinPFind\WinPFind.txt as a reply to this topic.

Everyday is virus day. Do you know where your recovery CDs are ?
Did you create them yet ?
