You will need to download the 64bit versions of your updated drivers from Asus's Website for the motherboard, http://www.nvidia.com for your drivers.

You will also need to download the 64bit version of Windows 7 SP1.

the error code for SP1 i get is :800736CC

Do give these links a read:

http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/windowsgeneraldevelopmentissues/thread/05584e87-c750-4814-93af-7cd8db31b935/

Referring to the other problems, please open up your PC case, disconnect everything and connect it back again, double-check the connections and seating of hardware components, start up your computer and install the latest driver updates available for your motherboard and video card as suggested above. You can also check the system memory (RAM) by testing it one by one, to rule a memory related problem.

ok everything is up to date i checked all the connections i even went into the bios and saw my memory was set at 1333 and not 1600 so idk if that has anything to do with it but just now as i typed this it did the locking up thing again. so its definitely not fixed or stable what ever the term is. as for the starting up issue i fixed that by removing the cmos battery for a little.

Try assembling the entire PC outside the case on a rubber mat or a cardboard box.

im trying to get the motherboard out it seems some of the headers are stripped and im afraid of damaging the board by removing it. can we still proceed if it is not assembled outside of the case?

also i noticed some programs wont update properly or be able to register (avast! and avg i downloaded and redownloaded)
