When a pop up from AVG says Threat detected, does that mean AVG has blocked it?

Because i got a pop up when i clicked on a link from a google search and AVG said threat detected i paniced cant remember what it said something about script but didn't say anything about blocking it so i just closed the pop up and webpage, do you think the threat would be from the webpage?

Im using AVG free 8.5.449

Without more information, it sounds like an alert by AVG to advise the page you are trying to access contains some type of an exploit (i.e. Java Runtime Environment vulnerability, malicious script). Most anti-virus programs which provide such alerts usually block your access to the web site before the page is opened in order to prevent possible infection.

Are you experiencing any issues/signs of infection with your computer?

Thanks for the reply, no everything seems fine i've done a few scans and they've came back clean so i think it probably did block it, i hope.

Not a problem.

Just be careful when clicking unknown links in Google Searches as you may encounter something AVG will not stop. Please read How Malware Spreads - How did I get infected which explains the most common ways malware is contracted and spread.
