Recently my firefox has been very slow, and the average mem usage is around 80,000 (with 38 processes running and a cpu usage of 2-20%). the most annoying thing is that the right click menu (with open link in new tab/copy/paste/etc) takes ages to appear, so tabbed browsing is almost useless. Is there a plug in of some sort to make the left click "open in a new tab" instead of in the same window, or ctrl+click to open in new tab?

Have you cleaned out your cookies/tempfile/history? Have you run Disk Cleanup? Start>Program Files>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Cleanup.
