Ok I've tried to complete most of the steps to prepare for a topic but I discovered something I can't get past.

The spyware scanner/anti-virus that Cox provide, when it starts to scan the windows directory seems to cause the computer to generate a severe problem with either a driver or a device and the computer does a momory dump and then restarts. I tried using windows explorer or my computer to just look at the files in the Windows directory and the computer again shuts down after doing a memory dump. Restarting in the safe mode allows me to view the files but the anti virus software I have won't start in safe mode so I can't scan that directory.

SPYBOT and AD-Ware SE just reported clean systems but Spybot teatimer is blocking a Start Page registry page over and over and over.

I tried some of the free virus scans one of them had the same problem as above.

What do you think the next thing I should do

Barry

I just tried to run the Panda scan and it did the same thing when it reached the Windows directory, a physical memory dump and then rebooted.

would it help if you saw the dumps
