Hello, I've read many good things about this site and its community. I'll start with a joke, I promise it's not racist or anything. What do you call four Mexicans sinking in quicksand? Also, about being my only hope, me browser be hijacked while surfing the seas, ngarrr. I've exhausted me resources and those of me crew (malwarebytes, adaware, spybot S&D and trendmicro housecall). If ye find it in yer hearts to assist me in ridding meself of this e-scurvy I'd be forever and a day in yer debt. The lady be a Lenovo laptop operating win7 on a 64 bit pentium dual-core t4500 at 2.5 ghz and 4 GB of ram.

Yours,

Rockwell Bonerstorm III, Captain of the dudeman69420.

Please download GMER from one of the following locations and save it to your desktop:
  • Main Mirror
This version will download a randomly named file (Recommended)
  • Zipped Mirror
This version will download a zip file you will need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop.
  • Disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.
  • Temporarily disable any real-time active protection so your security programs will not conflict with gmer's driver.
  • Double-click on the randomly named GMER file (i.e. n7gmo46c.exe) and allow the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.
  • Note: If you downloaded the zipped version, extract the file to its own folder such as C:\gmer and then double-click on gmer.exe.

    Posted Image
  • GMER will open to the Rootkit/Malware tab and perform an automatic quick scan when first run. (do not use the computer while the scan is in progress)
  • If you receive a WARNING!!! about rootkit activity and are asked to fully scan your system...click NO.
  • Now click the Scan button. If you see a rootkit warning window, click OK.
  • When the scan is finished, click the Save... button to save the scan results to your Desktop. Save the file as gmer.log.
  • Click the Copy button and paste the results into your next reply.
  • Exit GMER and be sure to re-enable your anti-virus, Firewall and any other security programs you had disabled.

IMPORTANT! If for some reason GMER refuses to run, try again.
If it still fails, try to UN-check "Devices" in right pane.
If still no joy, try to run it from Safe Mode.

Hey there neighbor. I cannot run SecurityCheck.exe because I have a 64 bit system. I'm hesitant to search for any alternatives because of my browser redirect problem. Should I skip this, run the others, and post the logs? Thanks a lot.

Security Check runs on 64-bit.
You may need to right click and "Run As Administrator".

Ran it as admin and I got the following error:

Unsupported 16-Bit Application

This program or feature "\??\C:\watcom-1.3\binw\sc.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit Windows compatible version is available.

Are both browsers getting redirected?

You're not running any AV program.
Install one of these:
- Avast! free antivirus: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html
- Avira free antivirus: http://www.free-av.com/en/download/1/avira_antivir_personal__free_antivirus.html
Update, run full scan, report on any findings.

Sorry for the delay. I downloaded AVAST and did a few boot scans until it reported nothing. It found some things the first few times and now nothing. Yes both my browsers are getting redirected. AVAST found a lot of things. I moved most of them to the chest. I can't find this chest anywhere. Also I can't figure out how to copy and paste from the logs. How is this done. Thanks again.

Download Temp File Cleaner (TFC)
Double click on TFC.exe to run the program.
Click on Start button to begin cleaning process.
TFC will close all running programs, and it may ask you to restart computer.

Let's try to reset your router...

Go Start>Run (Start search in Vista), type in:
cmd
Click OK (Vista and Windows 7 users: while holding CTRL, and SHIFT, press Enter).

In Command Prompt window, type in following commands, and hit Enter after each one:
ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /registerdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
net stop "dns client"
net start "dns client"

Turn the computer off.

On your router, you'll find a pinhole marked "Reset".
Keep pushing the hole, using a pencil, or a paperclip until all lights briefly come off and on.
NOTE. Simple router disconnecting from a power source will NOT do.
Restart computer and check for redirections.

NOTE. You may need to re-check your router security settings, as described HERE

Isn't resetting the router that way going to reset all of its settings? I don't have internet and I'm at my girlfriend's place. She's got a gateway on loan from charter until Motorola sends her a new one. Is this a good idea to reset the gateway?

I have only been using this router/gateway since I've been following your instructions.
