Using Windows 7 x64 I cannot use an MMC to perform active directory tasks. This is in a business network environment where the proper rights have been granted. The error message I get is 'Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.' I have an MMC console set up on a Panasonic laptop, this is the problem child, and I also have the same MMC with the same credentials set up on an XP desktop and it runs without issues. Only on the laptop am I having issues. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling the MMC without success. The only reason I set it up on the desktop was to see if it would work there. I work in a support environment and need this function on my laptop for unlocking accounts, etc., for after hours support. Thanks for any advice you can send my way.
