I really wasn't sure where to post this but I have been trying to find information for a service I found on a user pc. There is very little info on the SonyIcon_R service, SonyIcon.exe and SonyNotify.exe. I found the answer and am hoping that this gets crawled and tagged and spread for other admins that have this service showing up in reports.

The SonyIcon_R service is installed with the software for Sony Card readers.

For users that have the Sony card reader this software is unnecessary for the device, at least in Windows 7, so don't feel that you must install it. I didn't research further so am unaware of any unwanted activity that this service may provide.
