Hi All,
Running Windows XP Home on Dell Mini 910.
On Start up:Message"A disk read error occurred.
Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart."
I do that.
I select:
0 selected
Boot Menu on 0:Select Hard Drive:Same message as above appears.
Boot Menu on 0 selected:Select:CD/DVD/CD-RW it loads file from re-install disc as far as to"Examining 7327 MB Disk 0 at ID 0 on bus 0 on atapi" and then halts.
Nothing else is working except on selecting Enter setup from Boot menu I get set up utility.

Whats UP?

I suggest you visit the website of your hd manufacturer and download their diagnostic utility. Burn it to cd and run it.

If for some reason you can't do that, you can boot to the XP CD, choose the FIRST repair option (which will take you to the recovery console) and run chkdsk /r
