I'm having a lot of problems with the wireless connection on one of my laptops (the other one has no problems). I can usually connect when I first turn the computer on, but then lose connection after a few minutes. I have had this problem at home, at the airport, and at my inlaws so I don't think it is the network.

I ran the program that was in the sticky at the top of the forum. Here is what I got:

Hi Nifferous,

Would you be able to confirm for me that you have the latest drivers for your Wireless Controller??

Also can you verify for me that this issue does NOT occur when the laptop is plugged into the Network via an Ethernet Cable??

I do not know if I have the latest drivers for my wireless controller. How can I find out?

THe last time I tried to connect with an ethernet cable, I had trouble. I am at my in-laws now, but I will try to find an ethernet cable and try it again.

Ok, I found some information. I tried to check for updates to my driver, but I can't get an internet connection for long enough. When I connect with an ethernet cable the slot on the computer lights up, but the computer tells me that I don't have a cable plugged in.

I believe this is the model of Wireless Adapter: Realtek RTL8191SE 802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter

Unde network adapters I also have listed Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller

Hey Nifferous,

Please go here and download the drivers for your OS (I'd assume Windows) Download them on another computer and transfer them to the PC that is having the Wireless issues. Then install them and try to connect your PC to the wireless again and see if there is any improvement.

Which one should I download? I see RTL8191SU and RTL8191SE-VA2, but not one that just says RTL8191SE

RTL8191SE-VA2 I am assuming the VA2 is an updated driver. You can also get the driver from the computer manufactures website. Or You must be logged on as an administrator to perform these steps. (Updating the driver cansolve the problem of missing or failed drivers, as well as outdated ones.) To update your network adapter driver, follow these steps: 1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then, under System, clicking Device Manager.‌ If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. 2. Double-click Network Adapters, right-click your adapter, and then click Properties. 3. Click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver. If Windows can't find the driver on your computer and you don't have a connection to the Internet, you might need to contact the network adapter manufacturer or your computer manufacturer to get the driver. Check the information that came with your network adapter or your computer to see if you have a disc that contains the drivers. Once you've updated the driver, try connecting to the networkagain, or runthe Network troubleshooter to verify that the adapter is updated.
