A new version of Norton Internet Security 2006 (version 9.1) is available for free download as a public beta.

The focus of this release is to test the preinstall spyware scan.

Bear in mind that this is a BETA version; that means that it is still in a testing stage, and may have bugs and problems that will only surface with thousands of people using it. To use a Beta application as your main line of defence seems to me to be very risky for the average computer user.
