Okay, I just got this computer for x-mas and the past few days I've been having a couple problems. It seems to be taking just a little bit longer to start up the computer. Programs are also taking longer to load up. Lots of freezing up going on.. for example in IE (have Firefox too, but am so used to using IE), it has frozen several times to the point where I've had to CTRL ALT DLT and even then it takes a while till it actually closes it out. This morning my Norton antivirus said I had a virus.. TrojanVundo, which I read up on, installed and ran the FixVundo tool to remove it.. and it says it's gone now. During that I had to turn off System Restore, then turn it back on afterwords.. a few days ago when all this started I tried doing a restore with several different points/days but NONE of them would work, each time it acted like it was restoring but once it restarted it would say that it was unable to restore and no changes were made. Anyways after that virus removal tool I finally turned on my Norton firewall which I haven't been using. Then when I went to edit some settings in it THAT froze up too, CTRL ALT DLT wouldn't close it and I had to manually shut down the computer by pressing the button. I've run virus scans, Adaware, cleaned my temp internet files, etc. Btw, lately all I've really been doing is MySpace stuff, and I have noticed several profiles that will slow me down and kinda flash and don't show up right.. is there any sort of known problems around myspace that I should know about? Anyways, here is my log.. does anyone see any problems in here at all? Thank you so much for the help!!

Alright not sure what's going on. I tried 3 times to run that, but it refused to work (2 before restart, 1 after). Each time I would allow it to install the ActiveX controls, then it prompted me to install kavwebscan_unicode.cab and I clicked install.. at that point each time the IE window just froze up. Had to once again ctrl alt dlt it. When I tried to restart the computer after that it would not shut down, I had to push the button to turn it off. Ack, looks like something is still wrong!

Nah,Kaspersky just does that sometimes.

We can go back and reset all the IE settings to be sure.

Try this,Open IE and Click Tools-> Internet Options-> Programs and then click "Reset Web Settings"

Now go back and Click the Advanced Tab and then Click "Restore Defaults"

Lets also check some of the IE Settings

1. From within Internet Explorer click the Tools menu and then click on Internet Options.
2. Click once on the Security tab
3. Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
4. Click once on the Custom Level button.A.) Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt
B.) Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable
C.) Change the Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable
D.) Change the File Download to Prompt
E.) Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt
F.) Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt
G.) Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt
5. Click 'OK' and save the settings if prompted.
6. Click Apply and then 'OK' to exit the Internet Properties page.

Now,give this online scan a try.

Wow, these things just do not like me, lol!! I did everything you said, and the settings were already set to what you told me to do. Then went to that scanner and the same thing happened, once I clicked install it froze up. Is there any chance my antivirus software could be causing this problem? This computer came with Norton Internet Security 2005 AntiSpyware Edition, so I'm using that.. the firewall and everything it comes with. And I do remember a few times the other day when my computer refused to restart that it popped up to close ccApp or something like that, and I think that's a Norton thing.

Nope, once I clicked install the page froze up on me and I had to do yet another ctrl alt dlt.. and my computer AGAIN did not want to restart after that so I had to use the button. This is the problem I've been having off and on for the past week or so now.

Just a few days ago actually, and there weren't any. Just checked now too, no high priority updates just a few optional software updates that don't seem too important to me. I also have Windows automatically check and download updates and prompt me to install them.

Definatly strange,do you use any other browser?

Open IE and Click tools-> Manage Add-ons

Look at current and past add-ons and tell me if any are disabled?

Still no luck. Firefox didn't freeze up however it would not run the scan, I left it up for about half an hour or so and the entire time in the gray area on the side of the scan it sad "Opening Trend Micro HouseCall" and in the white in the center it said "Transferring Data..." it just stayed like that doing nothing. This thing really has me stumped, I never had this kind of trouble with my old pc.
