I recently upgraded Internet Explorer to version 9; My Internet is slower than usual and I'm getting Internet connection error messages much more frequently than I used to. I checked msconfig to see what was running on start-up. One of the things was Widgi Toolbar. I looked it up and found it is "an adware covered as an Internew Explorer toolbar..." http://www.spywarevoid.com/remove-widgi-toolbar-widgi-toolbar-removal-tutorial.html

The article suggested having an anti-spyware program remove it instead of manually removing it. I just ran SuperAntiSpyware and Malware Bytes, but neither of them detected it.

So should I manually remove it, or is there another free anti-spyware program I can remove it with?

I am using an HP Pavillion desktop with Windows 7.

I recently updated to Windows 9

There is no such thing.
The latest Windows version is Windows 7.

Is the toolbar listed in Control Panel>Programs & Features?

Oh, wow, I must have been really absentminded when I wrote that! I meant to say I just upgraded Internet Explorer to version 9. I have Windows 7.

No, the Widgi Toolbar is not listed in the Programs and Features.

See if this "spigot" folder is on your computer ... c:/user/programs(x86)/common files/spigot

This may have come bundled with an add-on in FireFox.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware may be able to remove it.

edit: also see this link http://howtodosteps.blogspot.com/2011/06/what-is-spigot-inc-searchsettingexe.html

Hi Jaycee, no I just pasted that in and it said Windows can't find it, so I don't think I have that. I wasn't using Firefox I was using Internet Exploreer.
