Hi, Thank you for giving us a site where we can get PC help when we need it. I totally appreciate the work you guys do and the time you spend doing it :)

To start, I have a Sony Vaio laptop with Windows 7 home premium, and I am usually pretty lucky when it comes to viruses and other maleware, but recently I got a jucheck.exe virus, not the real "java" jucheck. Because it was in my Users/Patrick/Appdata/local/Temp folder and it had an unknown publisher. I deleted it and removed the maleware it put on my PC with Malewarebytes and Norton 2011. But I have feeling the damage is done.

PC Symptoms: I keep gettig redirected on Google search and this just started happening after the Jucheck incident. Also my start up takes over 3 minutes and thats a long time, it used to take 1 minute 20 seconds. I run both my virus scans and they keep coming up with 0 viruses. Tracking cookies but no maleware. I am worried that my PC is infected still and my virus scans are not finding the virus. Everywhere I have checked says if you are getting redirected then you probably have maleware installed on your PC. The Jucheck.exe did put viruses on my PC but Malewarebytes hosed them, and Norton finished them off. it says I have 0, but I think I still do. I am afraid that my personal information could be in jeopardy and always getting redirected online is starting to really bug me!!!! please help me find this bug and get rid of it once and for all!!! Thank you guys again for the time you guys have spent helping me, and my friends. Much appreciated. Any help finding this bug would be much appreciated!!!

Please download GMER from one of the following locations and save it to your desktop:
  • Main Mirror
This version will download a randomly named file (Recommended)
  • Zipped Mirror
This version will download a zip file you will need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop.
  • Disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.
  • Temporarily disable any real-time active protection so your security programs will not conflict with gmer's driver.
  • Double-click on the randomly named GMER file (i.e. n7gmo46c.exe) and allow the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.
  • Note: If you downloaded the zipped version, extract the file to its own folder such as C:\gmer and then double-click on gmer.exe.

    Posted Image
  • GMER will open to the Rootkit/Malware tab and perform an automatic quick scan when first run. (do not use the computer while the scan is in progress)
  • If you receive a WARNING!!! about rootkit activity and are asked to fully scan your system...click NO.
  • Now click the Scan button. If you see a rootkit warning window, click OK.
  • When the scan is finished, click the Save... button to save the scan results to your Desktop. Save the file as gmer.log.
  • Click the Copy button and paste the results into your next reply.
  • Exit GMER and be sure to re-enable your anti-virus, Firewall and any other security programs you had disabled.

IMPORTANT! If for some reason GMER refuses to run, try again.
If it still fails, try to UN-check "Devices" in right pane.
If still no joy, try to run it from Safe Mode.

Regarding Fable 3: The game would always stop working due to my graphics card, everyone was having this problem but I fixed the problem by updating my driver to an Intel graphics driver instead of using Sony's graphics driver that was over 16 months old. I dont think the driver is the problem tho, and it totally fixed Fable 3, (Playable now, didnt lose $50 bucks) But I still get redirected everytime I am on google or any other search engine. I think its the Jucheck.exe I clicked on. But thats just some back around info on the Fable 3.

The only thing I was worried about was getting redirected when searching for something on google or yahoo. I did have the Jucheck.exe which was putting viruses on my PC but I found it and deleted it.

The reason i thought I might have been infected is because I get redirected all the time, it never lets me go to the page I am trying to get to. After researching it, it sounded like a virus hiding from my internet security. If I am not infected I wonder why I get redirected all the time?? Hmm... Well Thank you for everything and your time looking over my logs!!! I totally appreciate it!! You guys rock!!

Any ideas or suggestions on how to not get redirected... Could it be an add on I have installed on my web browser? Or is it just Google redirecting me? anyways thank you again for your time :)

If you're still getting redirected that's not right.

Please download SystemLook from one of the links below and save it to your Desktop.
Download Mirror #1
Download Mirror #2

64-bit users go HERE
  • Double-click SystemLook.exe to run it.
  • Vista\Win 7 users:: Right click on SystemLook.exe, click Run As Administrator
  • Copy the content of the following box into the main textfield:
    :dir
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC

  • Click the Look button to start the scan.
  • When finished, a notepad window will open with the results of the scan. Please post this log in your next reply.
Note: The log can also be found on your Desktop entitled SystemLook.txt

If my system is totally clean, and getting redirected is not caused by malicious software then I am terribly sorry for wasting your time, and I am very thankful for your help with everything.

So I usually never use Internet Explorer I usually use Mozilla Firefox, but on I.E. (no addons) I seem to get to the websites I click on from Google. I did a Gliese 581d search and it took me to the right sites. So this is happening only on Firefox. Thank You for your help, It looks like were getting closer to solving this. I.E. with No Add Ons and I DO NOT get redirected.

I tried Mozilla Firefox in Safe Mode and I did not get Redirected either, and I found something about the (Google Redirect Virus) it was saying look at my c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and make sure only the 127.0.0.1 localhost entry is there (with # comments) I looked at my host file in the same directory and under the 127.0.0.1 there is a # ::1 localhost could this be it?

Sorry for the double post.

Re-run System Look with this code:

:contents
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC\hosts

Also...
Please download GooredFix from one of the locations below and save it to your Desktop
Download Mirror #1
Download Mirror #2
  • Ensure all Firefox windows are closed.
  • To run the tool, double-click it (XP), or right-click and select Run As Administrator (Vista).
  • When prompted to run the scan, click Yes.
  • GooredFix will check for infections, and then a log will appear. Please post the contents of that log in your next reply (it can also be found on your desktop, called GooredFix.txt).

It looks like it found and deleted something, maybe that was it :)

After I ran goored fix, I tried my Mozilla Firefox browser (not in safe mode) and the redirecting has stopped it seems. I tried 5 searches and not a single one of them redirected me when I clicked on the search pages. This is the first time tonight I have not been redirected at all. What ever it was it seems like Goored Fix has solved it, hopefully. Thank you so much for all your hard work helping me fix this. I cant say for sure its gone, but I did not get redirected when searching for something on Google for a change. :) TY again, Excellent service!!!
