Good Day Computer Family,
I have a Acer notebook (aspire one), running XP. It won't turn on so now I'm trying to do a clean install hopefully to wipe out the problem and the system freezes right at the point were it says Setup is starting Windows. So I tried a boot CD and I get: The file SI3132B4.SY_ is corrupted. I'm stuck! Please help?

Can you go a bit more into detail about what it was doing? You said "not booting up" but I want to know if you were getting any specific error messages or what exactly was happening. Thanks :)

Thanks for the quick reply Obmute,
When booting up the system will stop and say:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM.
Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.

But I can't ge to the first screen with the original CD!

What do you mean by a boot CD?

The original error sounds like the registry is damaged or corrupted, the last error does sound like your boot cd is dirty or unreadable for some reason. Try cleaning your cd and running the install from the start again.
