My system started shutting off randomly (but not while idling in the CMOS), and I looked inside and saw leaking, bulging capacitors.

CPU Info from CMOS:
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual
Core Processor 6000+
CPU Speed: 3015mhz
Cache RAM: 1024kb X2

So, I believe I have this AMD CPU:

I also read in the CMOS that I have 3GB of PC2-5300 RAM.
I think PC2-5300 is DDR2-667, so that needs to match as well.

Is this MOBO as good replacement? Will it work with my CPU and RAM?

Thanks so much for your time!

The board is way outdated but it should work.

Do you have a graphics card? Is the 3 gig of ram in 2 sticks or four? The reason I ask is a lot of time when the caps leak it harms the cpu and shortly after replacing the board it will die too. That is why I would rethink that board, for a few more bucks you can have an 880 chip set, but it only has 2 ram slots. For a couple dollars more you get a 870, but it doesn't have onboard graphics. These boards broaden your cpu choices if it turns out you need to replace it down the road. Just a friendly FYI

If that is indeed an AM2 CPU, you may want to hold out until you have the money to get a new system. AMD is releasing new CPU's soon, upgrading to a non-AM3+ only system will only be a stopgap measure until the AM3+'s are out.

Hello, thanks for the replies!

You guys are correct, I've been looking into newer systems.
I'll probably upgrade my mobo, cpu, and ram, as I already have a good gpu and psu.
