I have an ASUS K8V Deluxe mobo, and the WinXP Promise FastTrack 387 ™ Controller won't start (according to the device manager. I assume this is a hardware problem that re-installing XP won't fix (I'm gonna do that anyway for various reasons). I have re-installed the drivers multiple times without fixing anything. Is this a problem with the mobo itself?

Also, it gives me a POST error that the Promise Controller is searching for connected HDDs, can't find any, and says I have no BIOS installed. After that, the computer boots normally. I have flashed my bios as well with no results.

If you don't have RAID or SATA on your system, I'd suggest disabling the Promise controller as it's unneeded.

If it can't find the hard drives in the RAID array - it won't start!
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
