Have original reinstallation cd for microsoft xp home edition (by dell) but following bp directions (D:\i386\WINNT32.EXE/cmdcoms) I get message saying windows cannot find

any advice appreciated neil

Whst SP you have on your system and what version of the CD you use....

The correct command is: x:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons (where x: is the cd drive) -- note the space AFTER .exe and BEFORE /cmdcons
