Um... the title says all. I finally downloaded SP2, and it succesfully installed. What are my benifits switching to SP2 from SP1? Just generalize please. Also, I forgot to mention, I have WinXP Home

In a nutshell, what tom said. You get the Win firewall, which is better than nothing, plus a bunch of security updates. I think Media Player 10 may also be part of that package, but don't quote me on that.

Top 10 reasons to install Windows XP Service Pack 2

2 other reasons, almost all help sites, nearly, require SP2 installed for assistance or will require it installed after a clean up for further assitance in the future. And Microsoft does not support non SP2 updated OS's as of 17-Sep-2005, per the Microsoft Lifecycle Supported Service Packs webpage.

So, all in all, I made my computer safer? That serves as a good thing, given all the surfing my family does.

While not mentioned as often, SP2 is also an OS upgrade. It provides many fixes that will prevent problems from happening with your system - and it makes Windows function better.
My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.
