I would recommend try running an sfc /scannow if you havent already.

OK, after getting the green light on automatic updates, I downloaded the file and tried to install:

"Some updates could not install:

Microsoft Security Essentials Client Update Package - KB2544035

"

This was the only file that downloaded.

Ran the scannow, same results on the update
