Playing sound from both speakers and headphones

I was playing on my laptop and I took off my headphones but the music was playing through my laptop speakers. I have no idea why sound plays through both my laptop speakers and my headphones. Please help

What is the make and model of the computer? What operating system and sound card are you using? This information will help us narrow down the problem.

I would start by checking your Windows audio settings for anything you can mute or un-mute that would be related to the issue. I would check the sound card manufacturer's program as well if there is one, they usually have a lot of additional settings like "detect headphones when plugged in" that can cause this.
