One of my computers here in the office has a number of issues that I have not found a way to crack yet. AVG reported no infections, MBAM didn't find anything either. I was getting a DCOM process launcher failed error forcing a reboot in 60 seconds after startup. I've disabled the restart for that service, so I've worked around that. On every shutdown, it wants to install updates. I've tried to go in the automatic updates and reset the failed update but internet explorer won't start. I then checked other browsers, Firefox and Chrome wouldn't start either. I did manage to rename Firefox to get it to run. It appears that some process waits for them to start and automatically shuts down each process immediately. IE isn't even able to open local .html documents. I have done HJT and DDS and did not find anything that was I thought was an obvious infection. Hopefully someone here will see it.

============= FINISH: 16:28:14.36 ===============

I've tried to get IE to run and looked online for fixes for that to no avail. I have the same issue when trying to start the windows update wupdmgr.exe as well. It appears that the process opens and immediately closes before anything happens. I suspect something is blocking it. Subsequent tries result in the process not running at all.
