Hello, hopefully someone can help me. My computer is infected with the XP Security 2012 virus. I've searched for files containing "evi.exe" and removed them from the registry enries, but I still can't run any .exe files. I am asked to "choose program" when I try, so I can't run malwarebytes. I have not tried to do anything in safe mode yet. Any help getting things back to normal would be really appreciated.

Thanks,

Adam

Hello and welcome..

Please follow our Removal Guide here XP Antivirus 2012 .
After reading how the malware is misleading you ...
You will move to the Automated Removal Instructions

After you completed that, post your scan log here, let me know how things are.
The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.
