Just bought Sony Viao
XP and other programs worked fine till it went into hibernation.
Now even after rebooting desktop icons show for about ten seconds then they are gone.
Right clicking of mouse doesn't even work. Can't even look at properties.
Any thoughts from the experts?
Thanks

Do the mouse and keyboard work? Can you open programs via start/all programs route?

Have you scanned for viruses and malware?

Maybe the easiest thing to do is run a system restore. Pick a restore point just prior to the problem to see if that helps.

Please see the following tutorial for details:
Windows XP System Restore Guide

Hope that helps.
