Desktop running vista..System was infected with trojans and other malware. I ran ad-aware and could not get it clean. I ran malwarebytes and it was able to clean it up to some extent. I have turned on malwarebytes live protection. But now I see that whenever I boot the system, I see the message from Malwarebytes

[OpenEvent] Failed to perform desired action. Error Code 2.

Also I see that if I try to open control panel, the icons are not visible sometimes. Also the browser gets redirected when I click on google search results.

Things I have tried

1) Run spybot
2) Run ad-aware
3) Run malwarebytes
4) Run unhide.exe (when I dont see the icons)

Looking for some help and let me know if you need any more information.

Thanks

I had the google search redirect issue a week ago and a simple cleanup of cookies did the trick for me . Hope this helps .

Hello . Please run these tools and let me know if you still rediect.

How to remove Google Redirects

A log file named TDSSKiller_version_date_time_log.txt (i.e. TDSSKiller.2.4.0.0_27.07.2010_09.o7.26_log.txt) will be created and saved to the root directory (usually Local Disk C:).
Copy and paste the contents of that file in your next reply..

Rerun MBAM (MalwareBytes) like this:

Open MBAM in normal mode and click Update tab, select Check for Updates, when done
click Scanner tab, select Quick scan and scan (normal mode).
After scan click Remove Selected, Post new scan log and Reboot into normal mode.

Please ask any needed questions, post logs and Let us know how the PC is running now.
