I think copying Chrome's rapid release cycle just for the sake of it is stupid.

That's the whole point behind MAJOR and MINOR updates.

If it's just small bug fixes and a couple new features, why jump to version 5? What's wrong with 4.1?

Chrome just has loads of BETA versions.

Edit: Damn after installing Firefox 5, a lot of my important add-ons were not compatible, so downgraded it to 4.

You can always install the Add-on Compatibility Reporter to force enabling of addons.

In reality they probably are compatible, it's just they haven't been "updated" for the latest version.

Also, if you're ambitious, you can edit the addons manually and update the max version numbers. Edit this file:
%appdata%\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<random>.default\extensions\<string specific to addon>\install.rdf

Change the maxVersion line to:
<em:maxVersion>5.*</em:maxVersion>

I'm gonna wait for them to correct the bookmarks issue with 4.

Scratch that. I ended up having to upgrade immediately. Hope they dealt with the bookmark issue. I also had to go and update KeyScrambler.

I didn't realise it, that they creator made one for 5.0 and which is works with my ISP, Optus (Singtel). Time to check how much i have used out of 500GB  But my other add-ons won't be compatible yet i think.

Edit: Not happy about it as there are some incompatible ones.

Wonder how many of these rapid upgrades you can skip without having to do a total
reinstall of Firefox?
