Hi,

I am facing a strange problem. When I start my computer, it does nothing but a blank screen with blinking cursor on the top is displayed. I am unable to enter into BIOS.
Please suggest some solution.

System manufacturer and model?

Have you checked the support webpage for that system?

FWIW: Black screen with blinking cursor in upper left of screen...typically indicates a problem with boot files.

If you have XP installed and an XP CD...you can enter the Recovery Console and try running the fixmbr command.

If you have Vista or Win 7 installed and have the appropriate DVD...you can try booting said disk and running the startup repair option.

Black Screen (fixmbr) - http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;314503

It helps to know what version of Windows is installed.

Thanks for your reply. Today my computer started normally in the morning but after shutsown I am facing the same issue.

Windows XP is installed. I am unable to enter bios to change boot preference. That's why I can't execute FIXMBR command. I inserted bootable windows XP disk but still same issue.

I would replace the CMOS battery, CMOS Battery Replacement - http://www.liverepair.com/encyclopedia/articles/cmosreplace.asp . Ignore the suggestion to write down settings.

After replacing it properly, same side up as before...then go into the BIOS and elect for default settings.
