Hi, this is my first post here, so I hope I put it into the right section.
Anyway, I was recently infected with the Windows Vista Repair Virus, which I am pretty certain I was able to remove. To do so, I used the combination of RKill, TDSS, MalwareBytes', and TrojanKiller (Scanning purposes). From what I can see, the virus is completely gone, as well as the root kit that was installed. (Note: May be important - I did delete a few related registry keys, in which I was instructed to by another website. If need be, I can find the ones I deleted. From what I know, they did not change anything upon deletion.)
The only problem left now is to unhide all of my start menu icons, quick launch programs, and some desktop programs. I have already replaced the Computer, Recycle Bin, etc. icons by re-checking the boxes. I have also un-checked the boxes to show hidden files and folders.
I have been reading other people's similar problems on this site and have seen a few tricks such as moving the files from a certain temp folder to the correct places, but I wanted to make certain that I didn't have a different problem first.
I am currently trying to use Unhide.exe, but for some reason it will not work correctly. It will stay on Processing C:/ and never change or do anything. I have tried re-downloading and replacing the old one, but nothing changes.
I suppose that my main question is: why won't Unhide.exe work?
I have seen many people get great support from this site, so thanks in advance for the support.
