Hi, I have a 6 month old Gateway, model # ZX4300. Every time lately, when I am in a chat room, and I go to paste a link, I get a blue screen. Doesn't matter which room it is. This is what screen says. "Windows has closed unexpectedly to prevent data damage." But I do not know the codes and things it said as well.

Problem signature:

OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3

BCP4: 0000000000000000

I tried to take a photo of the actual blue screen, but this was best I could do when I rebooted and viewed details of crash. Please help. Let me know if you need more info. You guys are great, I have been here several times before and you always got the job done!! Thanks in advance.

Let's try this.

Download/install BlueScreenView, http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html .

Double-click BlueScreenView.exe file.

When scanning is done, click Edit/Select All...then File/Save Selected Items.

Save the report as BSOD.txt.

Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content and paste it into your next reply.

Hello Louis. I am wondering what happened to you? It has been since June 17th and not a word from you. Should I look for a different helper if you're really busy right now? I would like to get my issue cleared up please. Thanks in advance, Kitty

Sorry...I expected more of a report.

That's not enough data to really tell me what the problem might be.

The generic info indicates that it's a driver problem...which means that it should not happen in safe mode.

Can you boot into safe mode and confirm?

Louis

Hello Louis. I can reboot in safe mode, I ran the blue screen program in safe mode and got same results. Also ran in regular mode again. As soon as I click edit. and then select all, the bottom portion with all the file names, addresses etc disappear. All I am left with is what I have posted which are in the top two columns under, dumpfile, crash time etc.. Understand, I do not get the bsod all the time. It is only when I go to paste a link in any chat room. I have noticed now that if I paste a link with just the link, no other typing, I do not get bsod. Is there any other test we can perform? Or I do have a camera program that I could piece together to show you entire report?

Sincerely, Kitty

I have a pic, though not a very good one, of the actual blue screen That I took with a digicam. Maybe this will help more.

Sorry...that error is pretty generic...to try to figure it out based on what data is available...is impossible, IMO.

If the error occurs only in a given instance/situation...I think that I would avoid that circumstance.

Hello Louis: For first time today, it happened while switching browser windows. What about if I pieced together bluescreen.exe? Also, what if in safe mode screen, there is option to fix computer? I have never used that option and do not what it contains and if I can handle it since as you must see, I am low tech here. One more suggestion from you then I will just drop it. Worse came to worse I have the 4 windows 7 recovery discs I msade when I got pc.. Let me know please... Sincerely, Kitty.

I am not the one to solicit info about Win 7 or random STOP errors in Win 7...from :).

Although I have Win 7 installed, I don't know it well enough to comment on any of the issues it may present.

I have seen any number of STOP errors/issues...and I've tried to limit my commentary to those.

I suggest that you await input from some of our members who are more familiar with Win 7.

Louis
