Ok, I'll be as descriptive as I can. Sorry in advance if I'm not supposed to, I just think it's too specific to just post a log file.
I ran a game installer (more specifically the Ragray Ragnarok Online client) and for some reason during installation my computer crawled. I figured it was just a badly written installer. So after the install was done, my computer was still lagging so I proceeded to reboot. Now, before rebooting, I did what I've been wanting to do for some while (and maybe it was my biggest mistake, who knows): I disabled the UAC. Ok, computer rebooted, log into my account, the computer is still super-slow. It takes some 2 minutes to load the desktop icons (after loading the taskbar, etc) and it is obviously doing lots of processing. Now this isn't any kind of slow, it's I-hate-2-gb-of-ram-as-soon-as-you-saw-the-desktop-and-am-now-writing-to-the-pagefile slow. At first I thought it might have been something related to the game, but now I highly doubt; I downloaded Microsoft's Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool, ran it, full system scan, found 3 threats and removed (Conficker, Bagle and some other). I reboot, still same slowness. I ran Arovax and SBSD, still no luck.
Let me describe what I see happening: it begins with svchost, one of its services begins using as much memory as it can (by that I mean it won't stop, 100mb, 200, 600, 800...) and then a lot of other processes begin using more ram than usual (even Process Explorer who used a measly 9mb was using 64mb as soon as I launched it). Things were fine in Safe Mode, but in normal mode the computer would freeze within 5 minutes. I had to install HijackThis during the first minutes (MSI installers don't run on safe mode).

So long story short: svchost begins chain reaction that eats up all my memory, no anti-malware program I could be bleeped to use solved it. Help please.

At this point I believe a format would be the way, but 2 things keep me from doing it:
1) Lack of space for backup
2) I *must* find out what virus (if even) is this

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review your topic an do their best to resolve your issues.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

We also need a new log from the GMER anti-rootkit scanner. Please first disable any CD emulation programs using the steps found in this topic:

Then create another GMER log and post it as an attachment to the reply where you post your new DDS log. Instructions on how to properly create a GMER log can be found here:
