Hi guys, I have a file server running out of disk space so today I started to look more closely at it and discovered that the sum of the folders (including the shadow copies reservation) did not add up to anywhere near the disk size. So what I have eventually discovered is a 55 GB area on the drive that shows as being Unknown .cab in WinDirStat.

I can't access it from windows should i just boot into ubuntu and delete it?

Thanks in advance

WindirStat was showing as "unknown" and classifying it as a .cab

BUT I just there now I decided to Disable my Shadow Copy on that drive and that was it.
It's gone. The strange thing is that I had 25 GB allocated for Shadow Copies but this was well exceeded in that file, over double the size. (I had the Shadow disabled on the C Drive only active on the D Drive)

Any way I'm happy - I have recovered 55gb space for now!!
