Hi all,
back again with same issue as before.
i have completed very extensive virus scans and convinced i am clean.
my issue is intermittent internt connection via cable connection for desk top.
our wireless connections are fine just the desktop directly linked to modem.
i took desktop to a repairer and he connected to internet no issues at all maintained connection. i connected laptop to modem via cable and no problem worked great. i just can't get the desktop to maintain a connection what can i do.
everything points to a functioning system except
it doesn't. i have been told to get a new modem a new netwrk card but if the desk top works as it should everywhere but when connected to my modem...i am really confused.

In your router Set-up what is the Connection Type set to? You will need to log into the router to see this information.

Just thought I would add that I regularly boot up and get command to hit f1 which resets my clock to January one 2005 103am. Hope that makes some sense. Kevin

It makes sense its asking you to set up your bios. Which means the Bios battery on your motherboard is dead.

To check the connection type. Log into the router by typing 192.168.1.1 the user name and password are both admin (unless you changed them). At the top of the main screen the main menu click on Quick start. On the next screen beside internet connection it will list the type of connection.

i guess you need to check your network cable, network card (coz it says hardware error), your router seems to be fine coz you get reply when you ping google or yahoo. and you need to replace bios battery.
