Im working on fixing a friends hp pavillion laptop running Windows 7 64 with 4gb ram and 500gb hard drive. Whenever I start the computer rundll32.exe shows in the process manager. A new rundll32.exe pops up under in the process manager every second! Within an hour I have several hundred to over a thousand running. Once I get that high the computer just bogs down. What else besides malware can cause this? I have ran every malware program under the sun all in both safe mode and regular and nothing is found other than a few tracking cookies which I removed. I posted a log in the spyware forum but Im starting to think it may be either a software problem or a hardware problem. Anyone have any suggestions?
