Hello,

I'm having problems with my computer. About every 5 seconds, the window tha I have open flashes as if another window is popping up, making it inactive, but then goes back. Also, when it flashes, I see iexplore.exe flash in my task manager. This happens even if Internet Explorer is not running. I have searched for iexplore.exe and have found one instance of it in windows/prefetch but I deleted it. There is also one in my i386 folder and some other folder, but both are trademarked by Microsoft. It still flashes. I have just purchased Norton Anti-Virus 2006, and have ran it a few times, with all the updates. I have also dowloaded spybot s & d, Ad-aware, and BPS spyware adware remover. I have updated them and scanned for spyware/malware. Still, I have not been able to get rid of this iexplore.exe. I have also found a file called winl0gon. This file wasin my windows/system32 folder. This was created at 7:07 on monday. I looked in my history, and found that an IP address (85.255.113.174) was accessed at 7:07 that same day. The file from that IP address was a WMF formt. There was a security bulletin reported by microsoft about a vulnerability in the WMF format (Link: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/.../ms06-001.mspx). I think that this winl0gon file was created because of this vulnerability. I have not deleted this file yet, but I don't believe that this is related to the iexplore.exe problem. I have also downloaded the security update that microsoft issued to resolve the WMF problem. Please help me find out what this iexplore.exe is and help me fix my computer. I know that you are busy with other logs, so ny help at all would be greatly appreaciated.

I downloaded and extracted HJT in hopes that this problem can be resolved. I noticed a lot of winMX things. Yes, I have winMX. Could this be the problem?

Here is my HijackThis log:

Hi,

Sorry for this delay. Please post a fresh log if you still have this problem.

Did you install the patch ? If not do it immediately.
Everyday is virus day. Do you know where your recovery CDs are ?
Did you create them yet ?

Yes, I updated, but that was not the problem. I posted in another thread, and was told to run some programs. The most important thing was getting rid of that IEfilter. Thanks for your consideration.
