When I select updates to download it starts preparing for download, but does not download. Said something about internet connectivity. I have no problems with the internet, updates for programs regularly download, etc..

On the failed downloads the error messages are: Codes: 643, 57, C355, 9. Updates either do not start to download at all or after about 20 minutes of preparing to download they will download and then fail.

Error message specifics, please?

There is no known cure for every variation of an error message...that we can point you to.

Here is a link to some related Microsoft windows update errors.

http://support.microsoft.com/ph/6527#tab0

Also:

You receive error code 0x80070643 or error code 0x643 when you use the Windows Update or Microsoft Update Web sites to install updates

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958052

The numbers you gave above are not the actual numbers we would need to diagnose your problem

They would more than likely point to the errors listed at the link below.

Reset Windows update components http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

You might also check your Anti-virus and firewall to see if either one is blocking the connection.
