Ok - under most circumstances I'm able to fix these things myself but this time I'm totally stumped. This is my FIL computer, so how he managed this problem I'm not sure (assuming porn since it wouldn't be the first time) but who knows.

At first the computer had multiple problems, two different rogue "scanners", internet options was disabled, internet explorer itself would just flicker and not come on, system restore was disabled - those I repaired - but I'm totally stumped on the internet redirects & the inability to update windows.

This happens in both ie7 & chrome - the sites seem random, and it affects both users of the computer.

It is a Dell Inspiron laptop running xp pro version 5.1.2600 SP2.

What logs should I run and where should I post it for heeeelllp! =)
