Was in the process of installing a game from a disk and in the middle of installing, screen went black. Tried to reboot and the Windows xp screen appears, but then goes black. I also tried adjusting the contrast, etc. The monitor appears to be working, but just will not hold a picture? Any idea of what's happening?

Hi Catkare,

Have you tried re-booting in Safe Mode (done by repeatedly pressing the F8 key when you start computer up)? Also, do you think there is any possibility you may have acquired malware from the disk? The suddenness with which this problem started almost sounds indicative of a malware issue.
