I just purchased (June 3, 2011) a new Toshiba Satelitte L655-S5150 laptop. It comes with a lot of Toshiba software that I don't recognize from other computers. I usually buy Dell, but this was a lot cheaper.

Here's the software list that I'm interested in learning if I can get rid of it.

TOSHIBA Application Installer
TOSHIBA Assist
TOSHIBA Disc Creator
TOSHIBA Face Recognition
TOSHIBA Hardware Setup
TOSHIBA HDD/SSD Alert
TOSHIBA Media Controller
TOSHIBA Media Controller Plug-in
TOSHIBA PC Health Monitor
TOSHIBA Quality Application
TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator
TOSHIBA Service Station
TOSHIBA Supervisor Password
TOSHIBA Value Added Package
TOSHIBA Web Camera Application
ToshibaRegistration

Anything I can already do with Windows I want to dump. Too much of this is hard to find on the Internet except on the Toshiba website, where it's all important, so I ask the community here.

Thanks.

I suggest that you read your Toshiba owner's manual...to find out what is what and what you might want to try to eliminate. It should all be detailed there.

Just based on the names of the apps they should be fine to uninstall, but following hamluis' advice is your best bet. Why do you want to uninstall them though? They aren't going to bother you.

Anything that duplicates what the OS already does is a waste of space. I'm used to removing the crapware that comes with a Dell, but this is my first Toshiba. That's all.

My suggestion is to leave well enough alone. Installed apps that don't start with the OS won't cause any problems and all they do is take up a little hd space.
