The new system, which is code-named Windows 8 for now, features a central start screen similar to the visual style of the Windows Phone. Windows 8 is designed to run on personal computers and touchscreen tablets. This screen makes use of the tiles that are a main feature of the Windows Phone and replaces the start menu.

Windows 8 will also have fluid multitasking, the ability to snap and resize an application and a user-friendly file system, said Julie Larson-Green, vice president of Windows Experience, in a company blog post.

Not sure I like Windows going to apps. I foresee having to pay for a lot of a la carte stuff that used to be free.

Hmm.

I really don't get the demand for touch screen on personal computers. Pizza and anchovy finger prints on my screen would not make me happy.

You can tech it then, haha!

I have been through every version of Windows since 1.0a and I don't want to have to learn another one!

Me either I really don't like it I wish they wouldn't put to much thought into the interface for touch screens, MAKE a version that is normal then make a version that is like that. Then I will talk. lol

But they in the video said that it can used on non-touchscreen PC's.

Fair enough, we'll see if it's worth it or not when it comes out
